- History Biographical
- The City of Lethbridge and Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec entered a formal city-to-city twinning agreement in 1967. The twinning was part of a Canadian Centennial project in which 27 cities from the rest of Canada entered into twinning agreements with 27 cities in Quebec. The purpose of the twinning is tp promote cultural and social relationships, and continues to the present. It has been a mutually beneficial experience for the citizens of both cities, with a great deal of information and understanding gained by the participants, their families and friends. Each year a citizen exchange takes place that alternates between students and senior citizens. In 1992 Lethbridge and Saint-Laurent celebrated the 25th anniversary of the twinning. In 1994, in an effort to include a broader range of citizens in the exchange, people in the 35 to 55 age group were included for the first time.
