- History Biographical
- Ada Holt (nee Moyer) was born in McKellar, Ontario in 1907 and came to Alberta with her family in 1909. Her parents were Amos and Etta Moyer, and was one of a family of four sisters and three brothers. Her family homesteaded on a farm near Fort Saskatchewan, and Mrs. Holt later worked in that community's general store for five years.
- Ada Holt met her husband Herbert in Fort Saskatchewan, where he was Deputy Warden at the provincial jail. They married in 1935, and moved to Lethbridge in 1940 when Herbert was appointed Warden of the Lethbridge Provincial Goal. The couple had three children: Walter (born 1940), Gordon (1942-1988) and Ralph (born 1948). The Holt family lived in the Warden's house on the grounds of the Goal until Herbert's death in 1959.
- Mrs. Holt moved into Lethbridge, and lived in the city until she suffered a stroke in 1998. Mrs. Holt then moved to Calgary to be closer to her son Walter. Ada Holt died on 6 January 2000 at the age of 93.
