Photograph of the Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District Canal Construction. Visible is a horse drawn elevating ditcher. The control wheels at the rear of the machine (upper right centre, just in front of operator) are used to raise and lower the cutting blade, and control the height of the discharge chute. Gearing visible between and back wheels provides the mechanical lifting power for the dirt chute.
