- History Biographical
- In January 1998 the Lethbridge Handicraft Guild was searching for a project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the organization. At a general meeting of the Guild, they decided to design an official tartan for the City of Lethbridge. The members also decided that the tartan should contain the colours featured in the City crest. In September 1998 the guild wrote to City Council asking for permission to use the colours of the City crest in designing an official tartan for the City. On 5 October 1998 the Guild made a presentation before City Council about this request, and shortly after received approval to proceed. On 6 December 1999 first contact with made with the Scottish Tartan Society and Scottish Tartan Authority about the proposed new tartan. On 13 January 2000 formal application was made to the Scottish Tartan Society for registration of the newly-designed Lethbridge tartan. By the time this archives was compiled in May 200, the Lethbridge Handicraft Guild was still awaiting a response from the Society.
