- History Biographical
- Edith Emma Coe was born and raised in England. Her brother Ernest came to Canada in 1883, and upon his advice, the rest of the Coe family followed in the same year. Miss Coe was teaching English in Paris, France just before coming to Canada with her family. Miss Coe and her family settled in Fort Macleod, where she opened a private school. Later, the family moved to Lethbridge where Miss Coe again opened a private school. It was the first school in the community, and Miss Coe became the first teacher in Lethbridge.
