- History Biographical
- The school was officially opened on 18 December 1929 by Mr. G. Fred McNally, provincial inspector of schools. It featured a gymnasium, stage, two playrooms, three classrooms and indoor bathrooms. The school's gymnasium was in use constantly from the time the school was opened. Mondays through Thursdays, the gymnasium was used for adult basketball games or amateur theatricals. Friday nights saw dances or basketball games. On Saturdays the gym was reserved for local civic affairs, as the Coutts had no other meeting place at the time. On Sundays both the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the United Church used the gymnasium for services and Sunday school. On 4 January 1937 the Coutts School was destroyed by fire.
