- The 23rd Battery was formed in Saskatchewan. In October 1939 the unit arrived in Lethbridge for further training. At that time, the 18th and 23rd Batteries from Saskatchewan, the 20th Battery from Lethbridge, and the 108th Battery from Kimberly were joined to form the 2nd Field Brigade RCA.
