- Beta Sigma Phi 1946-Present Beta Sigma Phi is an international organization for women founded in Kansas during the 1930s by Walter Ross. The Greek letters Beta Sigma Phi stand for life, learning and friendship, which are the main goals of the organization. In 1996 Beta Sigma Phi has 12,500 chapters and 250,000 members around the world.
- The first Lethbridge chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was founded in 1945. In 1996 there were seven chapters in the city. The chapters each meet twice a month; each meeting involves a short business session followed by a presentation on various themes of interest to women. In 1996 the Lethbridge chapters provided support to the Kiwanis Music and Speech Festival, Meals on Wheels, the Canadian Cancer Society, Young Women'sChristian Association and YMCA, Lethbridge Community College, Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) and St. Michael's Health Centre.
