- History Biographical
- Hoyt's Hardware (1927-1987) was incorporated October 3, 1927. The first directors were Berton Beecher Hoyt, Robert Clark Black, and William Hartley Manley. The firm began as a joint stock company with capital of $40,000. Gordon L. Black, father of the donor, purchased control of the company in 1941-42. In 1975, Mr. Black sold Hoyt's Hardware to Emil Fritzler, who close the hardware portion of the business upon his retirement in the spring of 1987. Fritzler Family members continue to operate Hoyt's Sport Shop and Hoyt’s China and Gifts on 6th Street South.
