- Albertan - local. The LCI (Lethbridge Collegiate Institute) Gazette, 1932-
- According to the donor "the gazette was founded by myself and some friends (Robin Ritchie, Francis Brink, William Domeier) in January 1932 as a semi-clandestine opposition to the Ballyhoo, the then school paper. Circulation was limited to half a dozen typed copies passed up and down the aisles. Somewhere along the route, Mr. A. J. Watson, the principal of LCI, told me that he could not permit the gazette to circulate thus another year but suggested that we might become the official school paper replacing the Ballyhoo which, as I recall, was a pretty illiterate affair. We decided to accept Mr. Watson's offer, and in the fall of that year we reappeared in mimeographed form, our stencils being run off on the machine in the office of Watson's secretary - the labour being supplied by ourselves. One interesting thing about the gazette was that Watson, a great believer in private enterprise, allowed its staff to split whatever profits they could make on the sales at five cents a copy. I made about $35.00 as my share and with the proceeds bought my first typewriter.
