- History Biographical
- The following information about the donor, Mr. Frank Hutton, was supplied by his daughter Mrs. Joan Nyhof. "Mr. Hutton was employed at the city of Lethbridge Power Plant for 34 years. He began his work there on 27 April 1941 he progressed through the levels of steam engineering and received his first class engineer's certificate in September 1955. In October of 1955 he became the chief engineer (superintendent) of the power plant. Mr. Hutton retired in June of 1975, after witnessing both changes in, and expansion of the power plant and water treatment facilities. In 1941, when he began, the fuel source was coal. Water was heated to steam, which drove the turbines. Later the fuel source was natural gas. The City of Lethbridge power plant was eventually bought by Calgary Power, now called Trans-Alberta."
