20261046001/001 - V.J. Harney Chinook Club Cartoon depicting a card game being played between club members (Left to Right) Guy Roy, Joc Marnock, Mah Poy, Jimmy Haimes, A. Beaumont. Guy Roy was a prominent businessman, starting Roy Electric and a charter member of both the Rotary Club and Chinook Club. Joc Marnock? Mah Poy was a business owner having bought the Empire Cafe from its previous owners, Long Hill, Long Chong, Set Hing Sam. Jimmy “James” Haimes was an engineer for the city of Lethbridge, assisting in such projects as hard surfacing of city streets, expansion of waterworks and sewer systems, and the expansion of the electrical department. Near the end of his career, he was appointed City Engineer and acted as an advisory engineer in his retirement. Arthur Beaumont was a Judge in Lethbridge. In 1908, Beaumont would be appointed as a Lethbridge Police Magistrate. Beaumont would also serve during WWI oversees in the Canadian Machine Gun Corps in England and France.
