History Biographical: Otto Wobick (1897 – 1988) was born in South Dakota, he immigrated to Canada in 1907. Wobick was active in co-operative and municipal affairs. The Barons Co-operative was established on his farm in 1940, and he served as president of the Southern Alberta Co-operative Association for 23 years. He also served as a county councillor and retired from farming in 1976. Dorothy Wobick (1901 – 1979), Otto Wobick’s wife, was a teacher at Garden Prairie School. Edna (Schumacher) Wobick (1909 – 1970), was an active athlete, playing both basketball and running track and field. She would marry George Wobick (1905 – 2000) and move to Lethbridge in 1949 from the Wobick family farm.
