History Biographical: My name is Wayne Ashton. I’m a former Alberta high school basketball coach who spent many years involved in the game, primarily at Archbishop Jordan High School in Sherwood Park. Like many coaches, I’ve always had an interest in the history of the sport and the people who helped build it at the high school level. I’m sending along a document I’ve been working on for quite some time: a history of Alberta high school basketball. The document is largely made up of year-by-year provincial champions at all levels, along with the coaches involved, and includes sections on team accomplishments, coaching accomplishments, notable players, and various historical notes. This project was done purely out of personal interest and respect for the game. I’m not selling anything, seeking recognition, or promoting myself. My hope is simply that the information exists in one place and is available to anyone who may find value in it. If you feel this document could be useful, you’re more than welcome to share it with others.
