- Charles Broughton, 1867-1949. C.B. Bowman was born at Windsor, Nova Scotia. on 13 June 1899. He married Florence Catherine Miller, a nurse at the Galt Hospital, in her parents home at Paisley, Ontario. Charles and Florence had 3 children: Catherine May, Ronald Fraser Patrick (1904-1990), and Gwendoline Marguerite. In 1891 Mr Bowman opened the C B Bowman Agency, which dealt in Insurance, Loans, and Real Estate. Mr Bowman continued in business until his retirement in 1936. He was active in the community as a member of North Star Lodge No. Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, and Shekinah Chapter R.A.M. He also served as secretary of the Agricultural Society (1896-1901), secretary of the Public Schools (1905-1912) and on the Board of the Galt Hospital (1903-1924?). In addition to his other activities, Mr. Bowman was involved in municipal government as a Councillor (1907, 1909-1912), Acting Mayor (1909), City Assessor and Secretary-Treasurer (1897-1907). C B Bowman and his wife Florence retired to Victoria, British Columbia, where they resided until their deaths.
