- Walter May was a German POW in WWII in Lethbridge POW Camp 133. He was born in Bremen, member of the Hitler Youth, and studied business. He was drafted into Wehrmacht and took part in the invasion of Denmark and then France in the 1940’s. Later, Walter was assigned to the 621 Intelligence Company and served in North Africa. On July 10th, 1942 Walter May was captured near Alexandria by Australian troops and eventually ended up as a POW in Camp 133 in Lethbridge Alberta, Canada, where he resided until 1946.

- This collection was donated to the Galt Museum by Onno May, Walter May’s son. The collection includes several postcards and letters written by Walter May during his time as POW in Lethbridge.
