A collection pertaining to Lethbridge & District members from Chinook Unit 53, who belonged to the Korea Veterans Association (KVA) of Canada Inc. Chinook Unit 53 eventually became a heritage unit in late 2013 and officially disbanded on June 01, 2016. The unit participated in events around the community, hosted dinners and other events for veterans, and donated to other military groups and local charities. In 1974 the KVA began, from a humble 77 members, it grew throughout the years, peaking at 4,000 members. At the height of its activity, in 2008, there were 60 branches (units) spread across Canada. Each unit elected its own executive and met monthly, with the exception of the summer months. The KVA “embodies the spirit of comradeship that was developed during the Korea War and the years that followed.”
