- History Biographical
- Recently my Godmother, Helen Elizabeth Graham (née McCaffrey) died, and while cleaning out her belongings, I came across a little notebook belonging to her father that has the formulas for common items sold in pharmacies. Elizabeth’s father, William McCaffrey, owned a pharmacy for many years. In the Galt Archives is a file of drug labels from the People’s Drug Store (W.H. McCaffrey Drugs). McCaffrey had a store on 13 Street North and a second one (at times) downtown. The types of labels provide a sense of the work of a pharmacist in the past and the types of drugs that could be found in a pharmacy at that time.
