- LAMP IS BROWN RECTANGULAR STEEL SHADE WITH LIGHT SOCKET MOUNTED HORIZONTALLY AT ONE END. TOP OF SHADE IS ROUNDED. SHADE HAS HINGED BRACKET ATTACHED AT ENDS WITH TWO HEAVY WIRE SUPPORTS FOR MOUNTING LAMP TO WALL. LIGHT SOCKET HAS BEADING CHAIN PULL SWITCH.

- READING LAMP WAS MOUNTED TO WALL ABOVE THE BED SHARED BY DONOR AND HER MOTHER WHILE THEY LIVED IN COALDALE. THE NAKAYAMA FAMILY WAS ORIGINALLY FROM VANCOUVER BUT WERE INTERNED AT SLOCAN CITY DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR. AFTER THE WAR THE FAMILY MOVED TO COALDALE, ALBERTA WHERE THE DONOR'S FATHER, REV. G.G. NAKAYAMA, FOUNDED THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION. HE SERVED THERE AS RECTOR UNTIL 1970. THE DONOR WENT ON TO BECOME A WELL KNOWN CANADIAN AUTHOR.
