TWO BUFFALO VERTEBRA, SLIGHTLY TAPERED. ONE IS SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE OTHER. BONES ARE POSSIBLY PETRIFIED.

BONES WERE FOUND AND TAKEN BY DONOR ON A WALK IN A COULEE SOMEWHERE NEAR COALDALE. THE BONES AND THE WALK THEY WERE FOUND ON BECAME INSPIRATION FOR THE OPENING SCENE OF HER NOVEL "OBASAN" IN 1981. JOY KOGAWA WAS BORN IN VANCOUVER AND MOVED TO COALDALE FOLLOWING INTERNMENT IN SLOCAN CITY IN THE INTERIOR OF BRITISH COLUMBIA DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR. AFTER LEAVING COALDALE MS. KOGAWA BECAME A WRITER AND LECTURER OF RENOWN IN CANADA. SHE IS THE AUTHOR OF SEVERAL BOOKS INCLUDING "OBASAN" AND "THE RAIN ASCENDS".
