- BELONGED TO DONOR'S HUSBAND, CHARLES MCCLEARY, WHILE HE WAS IN HIGHSCHOOL, FROM 1952 TO 1954. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE SEE P19970028001-GA. *UPDATE* IN 2017 COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT RUTHANN LABLANCE CONDUCTED A SURVEY OF CLOTHING, INCLUDING SEVERAL CLOTHING ITEMS DONATED BY CECILE MCCLEARY. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION COMES FROM AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DONOR, CECILE MCCLEARY AND HER HUSBAND CHARLES MCCLEARY. CECILE HAD THE FOLLOWING TO SAY: “THIS BLAZER DATES TO ’53, ’54, ’55 – BUT ANYWAYS, THIS WAS CHARLES’S BLAZER IN HIGH SCHOOL, SO IT WAS VERY FASHIONABLE THEN – BROAD SHOULDERS AND DOUBLE-BREASTED. OUR KIDS WORE IT AS HALLOWEEN COSTUMES AND IT WAS STILL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, BUT QUITE OUT OF STYLE, AND OBVIOUSLY WOULDN’T FIT HIM, BUT IT WAS IN THAT EXHIBIT HAS A ‘50S BLAZER. SO THAT BELONGED TO CHARLES AS A TEENAGER.” SEE PERMANENT FILE FOR A COPY OF THE INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT.
