NATURAL WOOD SPOOL WITH CHOCOLATE BROWN COTTON THREAD WRAPPED ON IT. HAS RED, WHITE AND NAVY BLUE PAPER LABEL ON TOP MARKED "DEWHURST'S SYLKO THREE SHELLS SILK SUBSTITUTE MACHINE TWIST 40", WITH HOLE THROUGH CENTRE OF SPOOL AND LABELS. BOTTOM LABEL IS WHITE AND NAVY BLUE MARKED "J. DEWHURST & SONS SYLKO FAST DYE MADE IN BRITAIN 100 YDS 91.4 METRES D. 271 ROSEWOOD". BOTTOM HAS DIAGONAL NOTCHES AROUND THE EDGE. SPOOL AND THREAD ARE IN GOOD CONDITON.

DONOR FOUND THE THREAD IN HER SEWING KIT AND BELIEVES THEY BELONGED TO HER MOTHER DURING THE 1930'S. EILEEN BROUGHT THEM TO CANADA WHEN SHE MOVED HERE FROM ENGLAND. "SYLKO" WAS AN IMITATION SILK THREAD THAT WAS POPULAR.
