- ACCORDING TO DONOR TREVOR BENNET AT TIME OF DONATION, HE USED THIS TOY AS THERAPY TO HELP HIM REGAIN USE IN HIS FINGERS AFTER HAVING POLIO. BENNET SAID, "I RECALL IT BEING VERY DIFFICULT TO PICK UP THE SMALL WOOD PIECES AND THEN NAIL THEM ONTO THE CORK TYPE BOARD." DONOR MENTIONED THAT THERE IS A HAMMER MISSING FROM THE SET. FOR MORE INFORMATION SEE PERMANENT FILE. SEE ARCHIVES 19752909159. *UPDATE* IN 2018 COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT ELISE PUNDYK CONDUCTED A SURVEY OF THE COLLECTION, INCLUDING A NUMBER OF ARTIFACTS DONATED BY TREVOR BENNETT. ON AUGUST 28, 2018, PUNDYK SAT DOWN WITH BENNETT FOR AN INTERVIEW REGARDING THAT DONATION. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HAS BEEN EXTRACTED FROM THAT INTERVIEW: “THIS LITTLE HAMMER AND CUT AND PAINTED BLOCKS OF WOOD WERE GREAT BECAUSE YOU COULD MAKE A NEW BOARD BECAUSE YOU COULD MAKE A NEW PATTERN OF SOMETHING EVERY DAY. IT WAS INTERESTING. I SAVED ALL OF THE PARTS AND WHEN I OUTGREW IT, MY MOM PUT IT SAFELY UP ON A SHELF AND I FOUND IT ONE DAY AND DECIDED RATHER RAPIDLY THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THE THINGS I COULD PART WITH FOR THE GALT MUSEUM.” FOR INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT SEE PERMANENT FILE.
