BLACK, GREY. JACKET MARKED INSIDE IN PENCIL "REMODELED 1944 BY MIKE L. MANDEL BOX 12 MAGRATH ALTA." JACKET SEWN TOGETHER IN 4 PANELS PLUS SLEEVES. REMODELLED USING SHEEPSKIN, SEWN IN UNDER ARMS AND AROUND COLLAR AREA. JACKET IS COLLARLESS. NO BUTTONS OR EVIDENCE OF METHOD TO FASTEN JACKET AT FRONT. NO EVIDENCE OF INSECT ATTACK. PAUL MANDEL, MATERNAL GRANDFATHER OF DONOR BROUGHT COAT FROM RUSSIA IN ABOUT 1893. WENT FIRST TO SOUTH DAKOTA. MOVED TO OLD ELM COLONY NEAR MAGRATH ABOUT 1918 WHERE HE DIED AT AGE 36. COAT WAS KEPT BY REBECCA ENTZ (NEE MANDEL) UNTIL DONOR RECEIVED IT IN 1983. REMODELLED BY MIKE S. MANDEL OF CRYSTAL SPRINGS COLONY DEL BONITA. DIED 1980. COAT WAS USED TO GO TO & FROM LETHBRIDGE IN HORSE AND WAGON DAYS DURING COLD WINTER MONTHS.
