History
DESIGN BY DONORS' FATHER, E.F. HAGELL. THE DISHWARE WAS DESIGNED BY HAGELL FOR THE STOCKMAN'S INN WHICH OPENED MARCH 31, 1951. THERE WERE TWO "PATTERNS"--MOUNTAIN TRAIL AND CATTLE COUNTRY WITH THEIR SPECIFIC ANIMALS AND DESIGNS. EACH SET ALSO INCLUDED A BABY PLATE AND CUP WITH A LAMB AS A MOTIF. THE VINEGAR SET HAD A MINIATURE JUG 4" HIGH. MEDALTA STOPPED PRODUCTION OF THE DISHWARE BECAUSE THE COLORS (ORANGE AND BROWN) WERE UNSUCCESSFUL--EITHER TURNING OUT ORANGE OR BROWN INSTEAD OF A COMBINATION. *UPDATE* IN 2014 COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT JANE EDMUNDSON CONDUCTED A SURVEY OF ART OBJECTS, INCLUDING THE VARIOUS DONATIONS PERTAINING TO EDWARD FREDERICK HAGELL.
