Lethbridge School District No. 51 is the public school board in Lethbridge. Since 1886, Lethbridge School District No. 51 has offered high quality learning experiences over a broad range of programs to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners. The District educates over 11,000 students within the City of Lethbridge and employs nearly 1,200 staff members. Scope and Content
On the site located between Barlett Street and Westminister Road (12th and 13th Streets) on McDuff Street (9th Avenue South)southward towards Alexander Street (10 Avenue South) was the location for the Fleetwood School. The school was opened in November 1911. In 1947, the Board was able to attain the building known as "No. 25 Supply Depot from the War Assets Corporation. The building was moved from the airport to the site behind Fleetwood. The Addition became known as the Fleetwood Annex. There was still a need for another building and in 1948 the Board bought the Building #4 situated at Kenyon Field which was relocated to a spot beside the annex. The school served for 60 years and was closed and later demolished in 1971.
