- History Biographical
- William James Shanks Gladstone "Old Glad", was born December 29, 1832. He came west as an apprentice boat builder with the Hudson Bay Company. He was the carpenter that built the second Fort Hamilton, better known as Fort Whoop-Up. He died April 8, 1911 at Mountain Mill, west of Pincher Creek.
