HAND FORGED DRILL STEM. CENTRE PORTION OF SHAFT SQUARED, APPARENTLY DONE AFTER MANUFACTURING LOWER END TAPERED MALE THREAD, UPPER END TAPERED FEMALE THREAD SURFACE RUSTED OVERALL. THREADED PORTION ON MALE END IS CONICAL. CENTRAL AREA OF SQUARED PORTION IS VERY ROUGHLY SQUARED.

BLACK LEATHERETTE RECTANGULAR CASE WITH FLAP LID AT FRONT. CLOSES BY MEANS OF TWO SNAPS, AND BUCKLED LEATHER STRAP WHICH RUNS ALONG ENTIRE WIDTH OF CASE. STRAP BROKEN. INTERIOR OF CASE LINED WITH GREEN FELT. BASE PARTITIONED TO HOLD CONTENTS OF CASE. EXTERIOR OF CASE IS VERY BADLY WORN, PARTICULARLY AT EDGES. CONTAINS TWO PIECES. EACH CONSISTS OF ONE STEEL AND TWO BRASS CIRCULAR RINGS, BOLTED TOGETHER TO FORM WEIGHT. ENGRAVED ON TOP SURFACE "GEOPHONE GLOBE PHONE MFG. CO. BOSTON, MASS. 3549". BLACK RUBBER TUBE/HOSE EXTENDS FROM CENTRE OF TOP SURFACE OF EACH WEIGHT, WITH ALUMINUM EARPIECE FIXED TO END. STEEL BRACKET WHICH FORMERLY JOINED EARPIECES HAS SNAPPED. METAL WEIGHTS SCRATCHED THROUGHOUT. FRAGILE AROUND EDGES.
