GREY WOOL BLANKET. HAS TWO RAW EDGES (LONGER SIDES) AND TWO EDGES THAT ARE FINISHED WITH BLACK WOOL, SEWN IN LONG (1.0CM) VERTICAL STITCHES. BLANKET IS SLIGHTLY MISSHAPEN/STRETCHED (CORNERS ARE NOT SQUARE). THERE ARE SOME STAINS NEAR ONE CORNER OF BLANKET, WHICH MAKE IT SLIGHTLY STIFFER THERE. NO OTHER IDENTIFYING MARKS.

THREE LENGTHS OF 2X4 WOOD NAILED TO SLIGHTLY LONGER PIECE OF 2X6. TOP 2X4 HAS CRESCENT SHAPED GOUGE CUT INTO IT. WOOD IS PAINTED WITH DARK BROWN STAIN. ELEVATOR HAS MANY CHIPS AND IS WORN IN NUMEROUS PLACES.

RECTANGULAR QUILT IS TWO SHEETS OF LINEN WITH COTTON BATTING BETWEEN THEM. EDGE IS FOLDED AND HAND SEWN WITH WHITE THREAD IN SIMPLE SINGLE LOOP STITCH. QUILT IS SEWN IN SQUARES. IN CENTER SQUARE "JUNIOR AID 1935" IS EMBROIDERED IN MULTI-COLORED WOOL STITCHING. THE REST OF THE QUILT HAS MULTI COLORED STITCHING WITH THE NAMES OF THE GIRLS WHO MADE QUILT. EMBROIDERY IS VERY WORN AND DIFFICULT TO READ. THE NAMES ARE "JESSIE GERLO, STELLA WADDEN, MARY WADDEN, JENNIE KOWALSKI, VICCI BRIOSH, KATIE MIHALIK, ANITA, ANN HOMULOS, EILEEN BARCLAY, MARY MARGARET, KAY BEGALS, MONICA BRUCHES, DORA DUNN??, URSULA GOIN, GERTRUDE MURPHY, LORRAINE MARION, MARGARET RODINYAL, WYL???, MARY TAYLOR, CONNIE FREED, EMMA GONCZY, AGNES MURPHY, BRUNA BERTEA??, K. PARFITT, JULIET GIDGRAS, MALLE BARTON, A. MICHAEL, CLAIR JENNANT AND RUTH HOEFER". EACH PERSON STITCHED IT INDIVIDUALLY AND VARIOUS DECORATIONS SUCH AS ANCHORS, BLUE-BIRDS, CLOVER AND SPIRAL STARS ARE AROUND NAMES. QUILT IS VERY WORN WITH TEARS AND LOOSE SEAMS.

THE DOCUMENTATION WORK IS KNOWN AS THE ALBERTA QUILT PROJECT. IN ADDITION TO HEINS’ PROGRAM, THE DATA IS ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE SUBMITTED AS PART OF THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE NORTH AMERICAN QUILT INDEX. THIS QUILT HAS BEEN ASSIGNED NO. “AQP 2-0275” BY THE ALBERTA QUILT PROJECT.

SHEET IS CLEAN (NO STAINS). 2. 0.1CM(H) X 249.5CM(L) X 189CM(W). WHITE LINEN. HEMMED AT SHORTER ENDS; HEMS ARE 4.8CM WIDE. ONE HEM IS SEWN WITH BLUE AND WHITE THREAD (BLUE THREAD IS VISIBLE ON UNDERSIDE OF SHEET), AND THE OTHER HEM IS SEWN ONLY WITH WHITE THREAD. STAMPED ON BOTH ENDS OF SHEET, IN BLACK, IS A LINEAR DESIGN THAT READS "K BRO LINEN SYSTEMS" BELOW; THERE IS ALSO A "C" AND AN ODD FIGURE 8 BESIDE LOGO.
