History
WORN BY OFFICERS FOR PROTECTION. THE ARMOUR CAME INTO SERVICE IN THE EARLY 80S - FIRST WORN ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS - BUT, ULTIMATELY, IT BECAME SO POPULAR THAT MOST ALL OF THE POLICE WORE THEM UNDER THEIR SHIRTS. BETWEEN 2008 AND 2009, LETHBRIDGE REGIONAL POLICE SERVICES INSPECTOR BILL KAYE ADDED THAT THE FIRST MEMBERS TO WEAR THEM "PURCHASED THEIR OWN". *UPDATE* IN 2014 COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT JANE EDMUNDSON CONDUCTED A SURVEY OF ART OBJECTS, INCLUDING SOME DONATED BY THE CITY OF LETHBRIDGE POLICE SERVICES.
