History / Biographical
Lethbridge Sketch Club (1936- )founded 7 October 1936. Miss Anna MacKenzie was the first president, Mr. P J Collins the first secretary, and Mrs. D. A. Wilson executive member. The club grew out of the desire of Anna MacKenzie and P. J. Collins to pass on information they had received at the Banff School of Fine Art earlier in 1936.
Among the most important functions of the club over the years have been organizing field trips for members, sponsoring travelling art exhibitions to come to Lethbridge, and shows and sales of members work (source: history of Lethbridge Sketch Club by P J Collins, in Allied Arts Council papers).
