The Davies Family:
Thomas Lockeart Davies was born in Peterborough, Ontario on June 12, 1848. He came to Alberta, Northwest Territories, in April, 1893, and settled in Lethbridge. He was accompanied by his wife, Grisella (Ireton) Davies, three sons and four daughters. Mrs. Davies was born in Dunsford, Ontario, on February 3, 1853, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ireton.
The three sons were: John Ireton, Louis, and Sylvanus Griffiths (Bish). The daughters were: Margaret, Laura, Anna Elizabeth, and Olive May. A fourth son, Allan Bruce, was born in Lethbridge in October, 1893.
For many years Thomas Davies operated and managed the Cosompolitan Hotel, known to many as the Davies House. Mrs. Grisella Davies passed away at the age of 62 years on November 16, 1915. She was a member of the Oldtimers' Association and St. Augustine's Church. Thomas died on January 10, 1929 in Lethbridge. Their son, Louis Davies, died in 1900.
Margaret D. Davies was born in Ontario on July 29, 1878, and married James Wallwork in Lethbridge on July 16, 1901. She died on October 10, 1954.
Laura Davies, born in Ontario, February 17, 1880, taught school in north Lethbridge until she married William Niven. In 1902, after their marriage, the Nivens moved to Calgary. Laura died on December 7, 1965.
Anna Elizabeth Davies was born at Lindsay, Ontario, in March, 1886. She married Robert H. Ormond and lived in Nanaimo, B.C., where she died on March 19, 1948.
Olive May Davies, born May 5, 1888 in Ontario, married Archie Moe, a freight conductor on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Olive was drowned in a boating accident at St. Mary's Lake, near Cranbrook, B.C. on June 20, 1920.
John Ireton Davies, born in Ontario in 1876, married Margaret MacDonald Davies in 1911. He died on April 16, 1942.
Sylvanus Griffiths Davies, better known as Bish, was born in Verulam, Ontario on December 23, 1884. He died on January 8, 1949 in Lethbridge.
Allan Bruce Davies was born in Lethbridge on October 26, 1893. He was seriously wounded during World War II. He died on December 28, 1941.
