History / Biographical
The Lethbridge PROBUS Club was established in 1997, with its formative meeting taking place in September and its first official meeting taking place October 23, 1997 at Ericksen’s Restaurant. The Rotary Clubs of Lethbridge helped to establish the club and sent the initial invitations to retired or semi-retired individuals in Lethbridge. A PROBUS (an abbreviation of PROfessional and BUSiness) club is meant for retired and semi-retired individuals who have had “some measure of responsibility in any field of endeavor”. Meetings are meant to be held monthly and regular outings are planned, with the goal of bringing retired people together to socialize. The Club has invited multiple speakers from around the area for educational opportunities. Speakers have included Belinda Crowson, from the Galt Museum & Archives in 2014 who spoke on local Lethbridge history, and retired Lethbridge City Police Chief, John Middleton-Hope, who spoke on his work as an international consultant in 2013. Frederick George Holberton
History / Biographical
Frederick George Holberton was born in Lethbridge May 21, 1920. He attended Tuxis Boys’ Parliament in 1939 as a delegate from the Meteor Tuxis Square of First United Church, Lethbridge. His association with the Tuxis Parliament continued when in 1962 he became the first chairman of the alumni Society, a position he held for 7 years. In later years he served as lieutenant-governor. A graduate of Lethbridge schools, Fred became an Assessor with the National Revenue (Taxation) after service in World War II as a Lieutenant with the Canadian Army.

The approximate populatons of cities, towns and village according to the 1931 census are also shown along with mileages between stars.

The scale of these two maps is about 38 miles to the inch. Relief shown by hachures and spot heights. 3 inset maps entitled: "Main connections in the Lake Superior Region" (Scale 1 inch = 100 miles) "Vancouver and vincinity" [sic.] (Scale 1 inch = 4 miles) "Principal highway routes of Canada and the Northern United States" (Scale 1 inch = 200 miles) Text on this map indicates: "Main highway routes between Eastern and Western Canada are indicated in red. When the road from Kenora to Port Arthur and Fort William is completed, an all Canadian route from West to East will be open, utilizing the steamer service between the head of the lakes and Sault Ste.
