Settled first in Calgary where he apprenticed with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Ogden Shops as an electrician. Moved to Lethbridge in 1922 and married Violet Ann Beaton on September 2, 1925. They had 8 children including a set of twins. Cuell was an electrician at the Government Elevator in Lethbridge when it was built in 1930 until he retired in 1964. He was an amateur photographer who developed and processed his own film in his home darkroom. Cuell like to experiment with flash powder and various chemicals to produce different colours and special effects on his photos. Walter Langrish Cuell was the fourth child of Cecil and Violet Cuell. He was born June 13, 1931 and later married Suzanne Biron. Walter Cuell died in 2017.

Walter Langrish Cuell was the fourth child of Cecil and Violet Cuell. He was born June 13, 1931 and later married Suzanne Biron. Walter Cuell died in 2017. Richard (Richie) Charles Cuell was the fifth child of Cecil and Violet Cuell. He was born September 5, 1934 and later married Shirley Wentz. Richie Cuell died in 2019.

Cecil Thomas Arthur Cuell (1899-1982) born Portsmouth England. Immigrated to Canada with family 1913. Settled first in Calgary where he apprenticed with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Ogden Shops as an electrician. Moved to Lethbridge in 1922 and married Violet Ann Beaton on September 2, 1925. They had 8 children including a set of twins. Cuell was an electrician at the Government Elevator in Lethbridge when it was built in 1930 until he retired in 1964. He was an amateur photographer who developed and processed his own film in his home darkroom. Cuell like to experiment with flash powder and various chemicals to produce different colours and special effects on his photos. Violet Ann (Beaton) Cuell (1900-1992) was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Lethbridge with her mother and siblings in 1912 to join her father who had come over in 1906. She worked a clerk with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in Lethbridge before her marriage to Cecil Cuell in 1925. Dorothy Cecile Cuell was the second child of Cecil and Violet Cuell. She was born November 8, 1927 and later married Donald Fox. Robert (Bob) Frederick Cuell was the third child of Cecil and Violet Cuell. He was born June 5, 1929 and later married Georgia Chugg. Walter Langrish Cuell was the fourth child of Cecil and Violet Cuell. He was born June 13, 1931 and later married Suzanne Biron. Walter Cuell died in 2017.

History / Biographical
W.L. Jacobson was an irrigation scientist who worked with the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA) and Experimental Farm during the fight to control soil erosion in the drought of the 1930s. He was also the secretary of the PFRA Advisory Committee on Land Utilization from 1935 to 1947. He pioneered such concepts as ‘duty of water.’ Later, he became a Glenbow Archives staff member, who was commissioned to gather information pertaining to irrigation, dry land farming, water conservation and irrigation pioneers in Alberta. The photographs are based in various locations across Canada and the United States. The Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA) was a branch under Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), a department of the Federal Government of Canada. The Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration was established by an Act of Parliament under Prime Minister R. B. Bennett in 1935 in response to the widespread drought, farm abandonment and land degradation of the 1930s. The PFRA served to promote sustainable development on the rural prairies for over seven decades in the areas of air, water, soils, and biodiversity. Its mandate included detailed examination of various methods for soil conservation and enrichment. PFRA also planned and developed large scale, multi-use projects such as the St. Mary River irrigation district, the Bow River Irrigation Project, and the South Saskatchewan River Project (Gardiner Dam/Lake Diefenbaker).
